Ya I am pretty into building Crystal altars. Check out my photos. I am half on Inner geo Matrix and built all the Altars @ Gemini Festival. And our Altar was pretty bad ass @ Psy Moon.. Here is the link

Altars/Mesas/Shrines, add a really nice focal point for the energy, also can be a nice place to touchdown throughout the night when one needs grounding. When journeying, I find it an absolute must. The bigger the better, IMO, although sometimes small and simple is nice too. Biggest I ever saw was in Peru.
